Found with thousands of obscene photographs of youngsters, a Crawley paedophile, William Mousdell, has been imprisoned for over three years.

William Mousdell, 49, of Beeches Crescent in Crawley, was detained at his house on December 14, 2022, following police linking his residence to the online publication of pornographic photos of youngsters.

Many of the seized devices turned out to have hundreds of the most severe, Category A, moving and still photographs, among other obscene images of children. These included baby rape, child mutilation and hurtcore.

A few of the pictures were non-sexual ones of kids he knew that had been altered to seem to depict aggressive and sexual behaviour.

William Mousdell later was prosecuted with three counts of creating or having obscene photos of children and found guilty.

William Mousdell was imprisoned for 31 months following a Sexual Harm Prevention Order at Lewes Crown Court on March 28, 2024, required to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register, and issued several Restraint Orders.

Investigator Rob Henshaw said: “William Mousdell is a committed offender who went to great lengths to seek out, create and share the most disgusting images of children.”

Devious and manipulative, he kept his activities secret from those closest to him and left his own and extended families in ruins.

William Mousdell and his acquaintances online molested every child that showed up in those pictures, including some personally known children. One cannot stress that breach of trust.

“William Mousdell will be subject to several rigorous court orders that severely restrict his capacity to re-offend once released. He is currently behind bars, where he can cause no further harm.

“I cannot sufficiently praise the strength and bravery of the victims in this matter and the immediate families who have supported this investigation throughout with courage in the face of such traumatic revelations.”
