Gloucester Paedophile Steven Matthew Jones, 42 years old, groomed and sexually molested a girl under the age of 16.

Gloucester Crown Court was informed that Steven Jones, who has no fixed residence, sexually assaulted the girl on several occasions.

Steven Jones admitted guilt to 12 charges, which encompassed persuading a girl aged 13 to 15 to participate in sexual conduct and participating in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15.

Steven Jones was apprehended by law enforcement and refuted the accusations during the interrogation.

After an inquiry conducted by the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit of Gloucestershire Police, he was charged with the crimes.

On 5 November, he was sentenced to 11 years and eight months in prison, registered as a lifelong sex offender, and issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order along with a restraining order.

Steven Jones acknowledged two counts of burglary, with six further burglaries considered at sentencing, along with an attempted burglary and a shoplifting offence.

Detective Constable Chloe Morris, of the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit, stated: “I wish to express my gratitude to the victim for their bravery in coming forward and for the tenacity and resilience they exhibited throughout the process.”

Any assault of this sort is an egregious crime, and the victim in this case endured profound suffering that will persist for the entirety of their life.

The duration of the sentence in this instance signifies the gravity of the offences perpetrated, and I trust this will instill confidence in any other victims who may be enduring in quiet, encouraging them to come forward.

“My colleagues and I diligently strive to ensure that perilous individuals are incarcerated and that victims attain the justice they merit.”

Subsequent to the sentencing, the victim remarked: “I am perpetually uncertain about how to occupy my time; I consistently feel adrift.” I continue to enquire daily, “Why?” I am overwhelmed by profound sadness and grief.

“I perceive myself as attempting to repair a profoundly damaged self, leaving me uncertain of my capacity for restoration.” I perceive not only my own life as diminished but also the impact on my relatives surrounding me.

“I continue to suffer from the inflicted pain and am endeavouring to navigate life as effectively as possible.”

Jones expressed remorse for his acts and acknowledged their wrongdoing. He stated that he had been involved with narcotics and incarcerated intermittently throughout his whole adult life.
