Shawn Rostron was given an eight-month jail sentence with two years of suspension.
Charged with creating obscene photos of children—precisely one Category A, two Category B, and 184 Category C images—the 28-year-old was back in court on Friday, July 19.

These pictures, it was found, had been downloaded either before or during his initial series of transgressions.
The sentence, “I’m going to take a highly unusual course in a case like this and give a conditional discharge,” Judge Ian Pringle remarked.
“It’s serious having any indecent images of children on any device in your possession, but further investigation led this to be discovered on devices before you were dealt with on the last occasion on January 23, 2023.”
“You were dealt with on March 2, 2023, in this court.” It seems doubtful that the sentence passed would have been different if this had been considered in the last one.
Shawn Rostron paid £150 in court fees and received a two-year conditional discharge.
