An Edinburgh chef, Scott Wilson, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a series of physical, sexual, and domestic assaults against a lady.

On November 6, 2024, Scott Wilson was convicted of seven offences, including rape, during a trial at the High Court in Livingston.

The 33-year-old chef from Edinburgh preyed upon a woman for several years.

The court was informed that the abuse commenced with Scott Wilson verbally insulting the woman, sending her derogatory messages, and exhibiting violent behaviour towards her.

The accused rapidly became aggressive, beating the victim on the head multiple times while threatening to inflict damage upon her and her family.

On one occasion, Scott Wilson unlawfully entered a toilet while wielding a knife and detained the victim inside involuntarily. He subsequently inflicted a prolonged and brutal attack on her.

Scott Wilson was convicted of several serious sexual crimes, including raping the woman while she was unconscious and incapable of consenting.

Scott Wilson was convicted for possessing the Class A narcotic cocaine many times between July 2018 and June 2023.

On January 8, 2025, at the High Court in Livingston, Scott Wilson received a 16-year extended sentence, with the custodial portion established at 12 years. His name has been permanently included on the sex offenders registry.

A non-harassment order prohibiting Scott Wilson from contacting or attempting to contact the victim was issued for an unlimited duration.

Katrina Parkes, procurator fiscal for High Court Sexual Offences, stated: “Scott Wilson is a violent and predatory individual who presents a significant threat to women.”

This form of criminal behaviour is unacceptable in Scotland, and the victim deserves commendation for her courage, which led to this prosecution and conviction.

“We acknowledge that court proceedings can be distressing; thus, special measures may be implemented to facilitate the process, including the utilisation of pre-recorded testimony.”

I encourage all individuals impacted by such abuse to refrain from enduring it silently and to report the incident. You will receive attention and assistance as we endeavour to obtain justice via all available resources.

Detective Constable Thomas Bridge of Police Scotland stated: “Scott Wilson is a violent individual who exhibited no remorse for his abusive behaviour.”

I congratulate the victim for her fortitude in reporting these acts. The information was crucial in constructing the case against him, and I hope this resolution offers her a measure of closure.

“Crimes of this nature will not be tolerated; Police Scotland regards all such reports with utmost seriousness, and they are thoroughly investigated by specialised officers.”

I urge anyone wishing to report a sexual or abusive offence to reach out, regardless of the time elapsed.
