Paul Montgomery Kane alleged paedophile offender

An alleged paedophile, Paul Montgomery Kane, charged with the sexual assault of a young child in Ayr over a decade ago has refuted the claims.

Paul Montgomery Kane entered a plea of not guilty to many accusations of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct with a minor at various locations in the town from 2013 to 2018.

The 45-year-old, Paul Montgomery Kane, is accused of sexually assaulting the minor after entering a bedroom while she was asleep in March 2013.

The Crown’s indictment claims he then inserted his hand into her lower clothing and touched her privates.

It is alleged he sexually assaulted the same complainer when she was a teenager on an occasion between August 2017 and December 2018.

Prosecutors claim Paul Montgomery Kane induced her to lie down to allow him to massage her then straddled and touched her legs. It is alleged he then touched her privates.

Paul Montgomery Kane faces a further charge of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of the same girl, allegedly watching a pornographic film and performing a sexual act on himself while in her company during the same period.

He faces a further charge of removing his lower clothing and staring at her while the girl was preparing a bath, and allegedly performing a sex act in her presence on an occasion between December 2017 and 2018.

Paul Montgomery Kane faces two further charges of sending messages to a woman which were “grossly offensive” or of an “indecent, obscene or menacing character”, which court papers state were of an “abusive nature”.

The accused allegedly contacted the woman while in breach of an undertaking forbidding contact when he was due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court.

Defence solicitor Colin McLaughlin said his client pleaded not guilty when he appeared for a brief pre-trial first diet hearing at the court earlier this month.

Bail was continued for Paul Montgomery Kane, of Henderson Drive, Muirkirk, during the hearing before Sheriff Shirley Foran.

Paul Montgomery Kane will return to face the allegations at a later date.
