A serving Warwickshire Police officer paedophile, Paul Hanson, has been found guilty of sexual offences against teenage girls in Nuneaton. PC Paul Hanson, who was a response officer based at Bedworth, committed the offences before he became a police officer.
They took place against three teenage girls in the 2000s and early 2010s. Warwick Crown Court heard that he committed the offences after befriending the girls in Nuneaton.
Following a trial, the 33-year-old, Paul Hanson, was found guilty of six counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. As a result, Paul Hanson was remanded in custody and will now be sentenced on January 23.
Speaking after the court case, lead investigator, Detective Constable James Pomeroy from Warwickshire Police said: “I would like to praise the bravery of the victims whose support has ensured Paul Hanson will face justice for his crimes. We have ensured they got and will continue to get all the support they need.”
Detective Superintendent Paul Thompson, head of Warwickshire Police Professional Standards Department, made this self serving statement: “Despite these offences being committed before he became an officer, the actions of Paul Hanson bring shame on the profession. He exploited these young, vulnerable girls for his own sexual gratification and will now face the consequences of his actions.
“I hope this verdict provides reassurance that we will always investigate reports of such offending, whenever it occurred, and seek to bring offenders to justice.”
