Max Wright Bexhill sex offender

Sex Offender Max Wright who sexually attacked five publicly walking women in Bexhill has been sentenced to seven years.

Between November 2022 and June 2023, Max Wright, 27, previously of Amherst Road in Bexhill, was charged with five counts of sexual assault about three distinct events.

November 20, 2022: the first incidence was reported. A man called Maximiliano seized and sexually abused a woman walking alone from Bexhill Railway Station the night before.

To calm him, she started a chat; then she left the scene.

The next day, a probe was started with house-to-home searches and thorough CCTV trawls, but no suspect could be found.

Three women walking from Cooden Railway Station were repeatedly sexually harassed by a man threatening to rape them overnight on 15/16 April 2023.

Reported on April 16, police from the Neighbourhood Policing Team visited the spot the same day, conducted investigations and found a suspect.

Max Wright was arrested the following day; related to both events, he was granted conditional bail until more investigations were conducted.

Early in the morning on June 24, Max Wright threatened to rape another woman walking in Bexhill.

She recorded a quick video of the incident while talking with a buddy.

Max Wright was quickly named as a suspect, taken into custody in a few hours, and then charged with five counts of sexual assault.

On July 24, at Hove Crown Court, he entered a guilty plea covering all counts.

Max Wright received a four-year jail sentence at the same court on December 1; three more years will be spent on licence. He was also put on the Sex Offenders’ Register permanently and granted restraining orders against every victim.

“These were terrible events for each of the victims,” said Sergeant Jon Thwaites of Rother’s Neighbourhood Policing Team. “Thank them for reporting to the police and enabling us to bring Max Wright to justice.”

With proactive inquiries by the Neighbourhood Policing Team bolstering the investigation run by the Safeguarding Investigation Unit, this was a great illustration of teamwork.

“A dangerous offender who put women at risk has been imprisoned; hence, the streets of Bexhill are safer for women and girls.”
