A Paedophile couple from Bedford, Martin Bayes & Dianne Bayes, has been sentenced to nearly 30 years in prison for the egregious mistreatment of multiple children over a period exceeding twenty years.
Martin Bayes was found guilty of 15 counts of child rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault on minors, in addition to attempting to obstruct justice by threatening one victim if they disclosed the abuse.
The 52-year-old, Martin Bayes, received a 22-year sentence, accompanied by an additional five years on parole.
Dianne Bayes, his wife, was sentenced to five years in prison for her complicity in his criminal activities.
She was found guilty of three offences pertaining to child abuse, assault, and inciting minors to participate in sexual activities.
The court was informed that Dianne Bayes, who also refuted the allegations, had incited a 12-year-old to engage in sexual activity with a 15-year-old male, in addition to verbally and physically assaulting the victims.
Both Martin Bayes & Dianne Bayes of Luke Place, Bedford, were found guilty following a five-week trial at Luton Crown Court.
In a victim personal statement, one woman said the offences caused her to self-harm, live on anti-depressants and she now lacked trust in people, the court heard.
Another victim said: “No-one deserves to endure what I went through.”
