An Eastbourne Paedophile Kevin Long, 65, of Binstead Close, received a crown court term for sexually assaulting and neglecting five children over the years.
Following an eight-day trial, authorities said Kevin Long was convicted guilty on 22 counts—including rape, sexual assault and child maltreatment.
The court heard how Kevin Long lived at numerous Eastbourne houses and used his access to the five youngsters, all between the ages of six and fifteen at the time. Police claimed he mistreated the lads and routinely committed sexual offences on the girls.
Police were unable to conduct a comprehensive inquiry until one of the victims revealed for the first time what happened to her and the others, a police spokesman said.
Kevin Long was a methodical abuser against vulnerable young children, utilising his access to them for his merciless satisfaction, said East Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit detective sergeant David Gibbs.
“We respect these victims’ preparedness to provide evidence; each one of them went through actual mental as well as bodily suffering. This is combined with the data we gathered with much help from PC. A key influence on the case outcome was Joanne Fox, who worked closely to assist the victims; Simon Milloy, on our Witness Care team; and John Cousins, on our Statement Taking team.
“Although Kevin Long pleaded not guilty to all charges, such was the strength of the evidence that the jury returned unanimous guilty verdicts on all 22 counts hardly two hours after retiring.”
