A Sex Offender barrister Kevin Farquharson who sexually attacked a colleague during an evening in Bristol has been disbarred.
Kevin Farquharson Sex Offender, 45, fondled the woman’s breasts and thereafter requested her to deceive his fiancée to conceal the incident, as reported by the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service.
He persistently groped the woman’s breasts and buttocks on the dance floor and, at one juncture, violently restrained her arms at her sides while demanding that she kiss him, as reported.
The victim, designated as A, enquired about his actions and stated that he would not cease.
Upon his eventual return home at 4am, Kevin Farquharson was approached by his irate partner, enquiring about his activities.
The subsequent evening, Kevin Farquharson dispatched a text message to the woman requesting her assistance in replying the next day with the statement, We lost sight of you at approximately 1:45. You departed following an altercation with one of the bouncers. I trust you are in good health.
The victim could only evade Kevin Farquharson’s aggressive pursuits when the personnel at Kongs pub in Bristol city centre intervened and had him ejected from the establishment in September 2019.
In March 2021, Kevin Farquharson was convicted of sexual assault and received a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months. He was mandated to compensate the victim with 1,800 and was placed on the sexual offenders registry for a duration of seven years.
Mark Ruffell, representing the Bar Standards Board, stated: This is a lamentable case from beginning to end.
On one side, there exists a young woman who was close friends with the respondent, undoubtedly encountering him on most days in a working setting, and it is accurate to assert that they were friends.
For valid reasons, individuals choose to go out and unwind in the evening; nevertheless, regrettably, events transpired due to alcohol consumption.
Mr Ruffell stated that at one instance, Kevin Farquharson inappropriately touched her vaginal area over her clothing at the bar, necessitating her to wiggle away.
A barman allegedly recommended that the victim seek refuge in the women’s lavatory while security escorted Kevin Farquharson out.
He subsequently messaged a second co-worker that weekend, requesting the colleague to inform his fiancée that he was with him in the event she called.
Judge Witold Pawlak, the tribunal chair, determined that all claims were substantiated and mandated the disbarment of Kevin Farquharson, along with a payment of 2,100 in costs.
