Detectives have commended the remarkable bravery and fortitude of three rape survivors following the incarceration of their assailant, Nottinghamshire Paedophile Keith Wain.

Keith Wain admitted guilt to eight counts of raping a girl aged 13 to 15, five counts of raping a girl aged 16 or older, six counts of sexually assaulting a girl under 13 through penetration, and three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 17.

Keith Wain, previously of north Nottinghamshire, perpetrated the abuse between the 2010s and 2020s.

He received a prolonged 33-year sentence at his appearance at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday, 20 November.

Keith Wain will be required to register on the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.

Detective Constable Janet Percival, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“First and foremost, I want to pay tribute to the survivors in this case who have shown incredible strength and courage throughout the investigative and criminal justice process.

“They have all gone through truly horrific and traumatic ordeals at Keith Wain’s hands. It is thanks to them that he will now be behind bars and no longer able to cause harm.

“Although no sentence can ever make up for what happened to these survivors, I hope this result can give them some form of closure now that this dangerous and manipulative sexual predator is facing a significant amount of time behind bars.

“I also hope it gives encouragement to any other survivors of abuse that they can come forward and report offences to us in the confidence that we will listen carefully to them, we will investigate, they will be supported, and we will do everything in our power to seek justice for them.”

There is a rape and sexual assault reporting tool on the Nottinghamshire Police website where offences can be reported. Here, victims can tell police what has happened to them or to someone else.
