A Bretton paedophile, Justin Barrs, recalled to prison shortly after parole, has been convicted for violating a sexual harm prevention order.

Justin Barrs, 25, from Bretton, Peterborough, was found guilty of producing obscene pictures between 2018 and 2020.

In April, officers discovered during a regular examination of his phone that he was utilising internet chat platforms.

He was sentenced to 40 months in prison after a hearing at Peterborough Crown Court on 3 August.

Justin Barrs also acknowledged three accusations of noncompliance with the notification obligations of the Sex Offenders Register.

Barrs, a registered sex offender, was subject to terms upon his release from prison on 26 January, which included presenting his cell phone at a police station on 4 April following his relocation from Suffolk.

Officers found that he had established three usernames for online chat platforms and had erased his SnapChat account, which he had been utilising, according to the police.

Justin Barrs acknowledged his participation in an online group for individuals aged 13 to 19 and stated, “I’m an idiot.”

Detective Constable Jon Edwards stated: “Safeguarding children and vulnerable individuals from harm is among our foremost priorities, and I am gratified that Justin Barrs’s violations of his release conditions were identified, allowing for his return to the courts.”

I encourage parents and guardians to discuss with their children the hazards associated with phones, social media, and the significance of internet safety.
