After punching a baby in the head, causing brain damage, a man has been imprisoned for fourteen years. Jordan Cattell, from Handsworth in the West Midlands, caused several skull fractures and haemorrhaging to the tot whilst laying in his cot in Walsall.
He attacked the child in 2018 and was eventually sentenced this month. Jordan Cattell showed no remorse.
The ten-month-old infant will live, although his injuries are so severe that he is expected to require full-time treatment for the rest of his life.
After a jury at Wolverhampton Crown Court discounted his account that the tot had fallen over, 25-year Jordan Cattell was found guilty.
July 12 saw Jordan Cattell condemned to 14 years in prison at the same court.
“This was an upsetting case, particularly as it has such a long-lasting effect on the victim, at the time a tiny, innocent baby,” said Detective Constable Lucy Simpson of our Public Protection Unit.
“The victim’s life has been affected by persistent injuries that result in lifetime disability.
“It has taken years of hard effort to bring this case before the court; I’m happy Jordan Cattell has been imprisoned for a considerable length of time.”
