Former Brighton Paedophile choirmaster Jonathan Smith was convicted of sexually abusing a young child. Found guilty of sixteen counts of sex attacks, the 57-year-old former musical director of Brighton Festival Chorus from 1983 to 1998 was

Jonathan Smith revealed before Hove Crown Court that he kept his victim silent using threats and blackmail.

Telling her they had a “special relationship,” it included raping her and mistreating her with her own Barbie doll.

Unable to be named for legal reasons, his victim detailed her “torture” and claimed daily “haunting” from what the paedophile did.

She remarked, “It was like a TV series of awfulness.”

Judge Paul Tain said the victim had tried her own life. Following his extradition from Australia in 2022 to stand trial, he imprisoned Jonathan Smith for 24 years overall.
