A 29-year-old Brighouse Paedophile, Jamie Wardle, is commencing his third incarceration period following his repeated apprehension with a covert compilation of disturbing child exploitation photographs and videos.
The Bradford Crown Court was informed that Jamie Wardle’s most recent criminal activity marked his third conviction for possessing indecent photos of minors. Additionally, he had violated the conditions of his current sexual harm prevention order.
Jamie Wardle, residing at Sycamore Drive in Brighouse, had already received a 16-month prison sentence at Leeds Crown Court in 2016. In 2021, he was sentenced to 14 months at Bradford Crown Court.
Jamie Wardle, who was reported to have autism, was under an indefinite sexual harm prevention order that limited his use of internet-enabled devices. However, during a routine monitoring visit by police officers in December of last year, it was found that he had been using a mobile phone that he had not revealed.
Upon thoroughly searching his residence, law enforcement discovered a USB memory stick cleverly concealed behind a pillowcase. Subsequent examination of the device revealed the presence of over 200 explicit photographs, both still and in motion, depicting the abuse of children.
The prosecutor, Bashir Ahmed, stated that the material had been organised into specifically labelled directories, and the photographs were acquired over 18 months, from May 2021 to November of the previous year.
According to him, the participating youngsters ranged in age from two to 16. Numerous photographs depicted toddlers who were crying and distressed.
Jamie Wardle confessed to three charges about his possession of the indecent photos and also acknowledged violating his sexual harm prevention order.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Jamie Wardle had already been held in custody for around eight months. Judge Colin Burn was advised to consider a sentence that would entail more targeted intervention by the probation department when working with the offender.
Barrister Derek Duffy, representing Jamie Wardle, stated that his client now acknowledges his fixation and desire to transform.
Mr. Duffy requested a chance for Wardle to control his preoccupation and break the repetitive pattern. However, Judge Burn stated that this was Wardle’s third instance of such offences and that he could only address the situation by immediately sentencing him to custody.
The judge determined that Jamie Wardle presented a substantial threat of causing severe injury in the future and imposed an additional two-year period of supervised release in addition to his three-year prison term.
Jamie Wardle will remain under the indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will be required to register as a sex offender with the police permanently.
Judge Burn emphasised that the charges were not “victimless crimes” and stated that these crimes indeed have tangible victims.
“The court’s main priority in determining the sentence is to ensure that measures are taken to prevent further abuse of young victims.”
According to him, Jamie Wardle had made significant efforts to acquire and conceal the photographs from the authorities. He had also been catering to a need, as he had done previously, for those who inflict great suffering on actual children.
