The police have published the mugshot of Iqbal Chand, a Belvedere paedophile who evaded incarceration for molesting a young child at Abbey Wood station. [Editor’s Note: YET The Police would never release a photo of one of their own like this!]
Iqbal Chand, 31, admitted guilt to two charges of sexual assault for inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl’s buttocks on July 15.
Prosecutor Claire Langevad stated that the victim was riding with her nine-year-old sister on an Elizabeth Line train when she observed Iqbal Chand gazing at her.
Ms. Langevad stated that when she rose to disembark the train, Iqbal Chand positioned himself behind her and made contact with her posterior.
The girl and her sister entered the lift without Iqbal Chand accompanying them; however, upon reaching the top, he was there awaiting their arrival.
He then followed the girl into a second lift where he stood behind her and grabbed her bottom for a second time, even more forcefully.
On Friday (November 15) Iqbal Chand, of Nuxley Road in Belvedere, was given a nine-month sentence suspended for one year.
Judge Mental Freya Newbery said: “This is a sad case Mr Iqbal Chand because you’re 31 and have never been in trouble before. You’re a hard working person, you have a young child.
“This offence was totally out of character for you. Who would have thought you’d do something like that? Nobody.”
She added: “I’m quite persuaded, first of all, that there’s a realistic prospect of rehabilitation. I don’t think you’ll ever do something like this again.
“Secondly, you have caring responsibilities which would make it very hard on your wife and baby daughter if you were in custody.”
As Iqbal Chand left Inner London Crown Court he seen laughing and smiling with his family.
