A Dursley Paedophile, David James, has been sentenced to eight years and three months in jail for non-recent sexual crimes involving children.
Following an investigation by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Non-Recent Sexual Offences Investigation Team, David James, 66, of Green Close, Dursley, Gloucestershire, was charged with eight charges of indecent assault.
The occurrences occurred in Gloucestershire between March 1976 and March 1980, and all involved two girls under the age of sixteen.
Although these instances occurred in Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire Constabulary received the first reports of these crimes and, over time, formed a good connection with the victims, therefore it was decided that the matter should be examined further by the force.
Before being sentenced, David James pleaded guilty to all of the charges against him.
On Friday, June 28, David James was sentenced to 6 years and 3 months in jail, with a two-year licence extension.
Detective Constable Jason Tinsey of Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team said: “The victims’ bravery throughout this process has been incredible, and I thank them for reporting David James’ crimes.”
“This trial would have been difficult for the two victims discussing incidents that have had long-lasting impacts on them, but I hope that seeing David James brought to justice with a lengthy sentence brings closure and helps them move forward with their lives.”
