A sixty-four-year-old Brampton Paedophile Bruce Beveridge has been placed on the Sex Offender Register after confessing to downloading child exploitation photographs.
Law enforcement officials who confiscated equipment belonging to Bruce Beveridge found five obscene photos of children categorised as Category A, the most severe classification, as shown before Carlisles Rickergate court.
The indictment pertains to photos that encompassed a movie lasting seven minutes and 31 seconds, the contents of which prosecutor Peter Kelly asserted should not be presented in court.
Bruce Beveridge perpetrated the offence over a duration of nearly six years, the court was informed. The indictment alleges that between December 6, 2014, to March 25, 2020, the defendant created or downloaded five Category A indecent photos of minors.
Mr. Kelly stated that the offences were revealed following the police’s visit to the defendant’s residence on July 9, 2020. Mr. Kelly stated that, due to the nature of the photos discovered on the devices, the defendant should receive sentencing from a judge in the crown court.
Lauren Heasley, the defendant, stated that Bruce Beveridge possessed a history of commendable character and requested background reports. The Probation Service will prepare these.
The attorney conceded that it would be more suitable for the case to be adjudicated by the crown court.
The magistrates concurred.
Bruce Beveridge was instructed to report to Carlisle Police Headquarters at Durranhill within three days and furnish his personal information, as mandated for individuals on the Sex Offender Register.
The defendant is scheduled for sentencing at Carlisle Crown Court on July 11.
Bruce Beveridge was subsequently given bail. The duration of his name on the Sex Offender Register will be contingent upon the final length and type of his sentence.
