Awet Ykalo, a convicted rapist, has been charged with a grave sexual assault in Leeds.
Awet Ykalo, 27, of Recreation Place in Holbeck, has been charged with attempted rape.
The accusation pertains to an incident involving a lady who was assaulted near Great Wilson Street in the early hours of Wednesday, December 18, 2024.
Awet Ykalo has been detained to appear before Leeds Magistrates Court on Monday, December 23.
Awet Ykalo has been apprehended as investigators pursue enquiries into a grave sexual attack on a lady in Leeds city centre.
Awet Ykalo, a 27-year-old male from Leeds, has been apprehended about the assault of a lady in her twenties near Great Wilson Street during the early hours of Wednesday, 18 December 2024, after she was pursued from Call Lane.
The man remains in custody and detectives from Leeds District Safeguarding Unit are continuing to progress the investigation.
