A Barnsley Sex Offender, Alan Elsworth, who recorded himself sexually assaulting women on buses has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Alan Elsworth, 52, of Barnsley, indecently exposed himself prior to perpetrating the “horrific” sexual assaults in South Yorkshire, according to police.

He acknowledged 35 allegations, comprising 14 counts of sexual assault and 16 counts of outraging public decency, during a prior hearing at Sheffield Crown Court in May.

Investigators stated that he exhibited complete indifference towards his victims.

Alan Elsworth, residing on Catherines Walk, was indefinitely registered as a sex offender following his sentencing on Friday.

He received a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and a restraining order, both effective for a duration of 10 years.

South Yorkshire Police reported that Alan Elsworth recorded himself abusing his victims, and during a search of his residence, officers confiscated gadgets containing extreme pornography and indecent photos of minors.

Detective Constable Michelle Jameson stated: “Alan Elsworth exhibited complete disregard for his victims.”

“He indecently exposed himself on public transport prior to perpetrating egregious sexual offences against women who ought to have been able to utilise the bus without facing sexual assault.”

She stated that the ladies had demonstrated “remarkable courage and bravery in coming forward to disclose Alan Elsworth’s offences”.
