A Hanley Paedophile Adrian Vermaak has been jailed for more than four years after pleading guilty to sexual offences involving two children.
Adrian Vermaak, 38, of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced on Friday 28 June at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after pleading guilty to five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl at an earlier hearing.
Adrian Vermaak was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.
In August last year, the survivors told an adult what had happened to them.
Adrian Vermaak was reported to police and specially-trained detectives started an investigation.
They seized Adrian Vermaak’s mobile phone and other electronic devices and he was later arrested, questioned in custody and charged with a number of sexual offences.
Police Constable Adam Cliffe, from our child protection unit, said: “We are committed to supporting those affected by sexual crimes and are here to support anyone who has suffered abuse.
“We have specially-trained officers who are tasked with investigating these matters with the aim of bringing those responsible to justice and we welcome this sentence.
“I would like to thank the victims and their families for their support throughout the investigation. They showed tremendous courage in coming forward and supporting the prosecution.”
